In today’s world, gratitude seems to be like the missing Loch Ness Monster. Genuine gratitude, oh you hear about it, just like Nessy and get the occasional sighting but true gratitude is rare these days. It seems like everyone expects services and things in this life and have very little gratitude for anything. The “give me” world we live in brings the worst out in many people. I ask myself so often, Where’s The Gratitude?
What has happened to people? I find that many people expect gratitude for what they are doing, a job well done, a service offered, a gift given but provide no gratitude in return. They lack actual gratitude in their own lives. They are moaners and whiners and fail to see the simple most wonderful things that could bring them gratitude and joy if they would only open their eyes and hearts. Sadly, many can’t see beyond their own selfish needs. Life throws them a few lemons and all is doomed.

So why am I complaining about other peoples lack of gratitude? Because a society with a lack of gratitude is doomed to fail. When all people can think about is their own needs we fail to find joy in the little things. We stop helping others, and our lack of gratitude rubs off on those around us. It makes me sad to see so many people missing out on the joy in their lives. You can’t have true joy without gratitude. You can’t live the life your suppose to without gratitude and you can’t reap the benefits if you can’t find things to be grateful for in your everyday life.
Lack of Gratitude is Contagious
Lack of gratitude is contagious, you see it everyday. If you constantly complain and look for obstacles at every corner, you are going to find them. The people you associate with will also pick up your lack of gratitude, or worse yet you will pick up theirs. Be careful who you associate with, if you have negative friends or family find others that inspire you.
Life is not all roses, sometimes it sucks. Those who find Joy and Happiness either have a natural sense of gratitude or learn how to be grateful.
I have had my share of heartache, there have been times that I have wanted to curl up and complain. But, I make it a point everyday to count my blessings and have gratitude, even for the smallest of things. I recommend you do the same.
So, what I am saying here is; you have to find gratitude in the small things in your life to obtain true happiness. No matter what pain, hardships or privilege you’ve experienced, without gratitude you will never find true joy.
