I woke this morning to the normal tippy toes foot steps of Tippy on the linoleum floor. Tippy is one of our rescue dogs. She is a tiny and frail girl that came to us broken and abused. We honestly didn’t think she had a month left in her. That was over 6 months ago. Tippy has put on weight, shows utter and complete joy as she bounces around with her cute little crooked body and lame legs.
Tippy is always the first to rise, usually about 5:30am. She bounces around to go outside. I get up from my warm bed to let her out and the other dogs start to stir. Within minutes the parade of old dogs coming and going out the back door grows.
Morning Frustrations
This morning I was feeling frustrated as I didn’t want to get out of bed. I was warm and toasty and knew that it is going to be very cold outside. I hesitantly jumped out of bed and started for the door. To add to my frustration the the first thing I notice was two pee spots already on the floor. UGH! But when I went to the back door to let them out I was greeted with such a beautiful sunrise. I ran back in the house to grab my phone to take a few pictures.
As I reached the back door I took a deep breath and the fresh cool air filled my lungs. And there it was even more beautiful than just minutes before. The sun trying to come up in east horizon. This amazing sight caused reflection.
How Lucky Am I?
How lucky am I that each day I am greeted with these beautiful foot steps and these deep loving old souls. Getting to Share such a beautiful morning with my furry kids warms my heart. How lucky am I that I get the opportunity to watch such a beautiful act of nature each morning. No sunrise is ever the same, the colors, the clouds, and the .air provide me with an ever changing canvas.
How lucky am I that today is my husbands 57th birthday and that my family is all close by. With all of the illnesses and crap in this house we are still grateful are close.
So after wiping up the pee, I sit here surrounded by my furry family. All with full bellies and light snores I am blessed. How lucky am I to not just wake up each day but to witness the wonders of the morning sunrise.
It’s the little things, the little joys of each day that remind me how lucky am I.
